So Today…

Last night I was reading a very depressing book. I know this sounds random, but stay with me. I can’t sleep after reading a book that begins and ends in tragedy, especially one with tragedy in the middle, so after reading my very depressing book, I picked up another one. This one was less depressing, just a little more random.

Now this isn’t really relevant except for the fact that because of my depressing books, I didn’t go to sleep until very very late last night (or very very early this morning, if you want to be technical about it). After staying up freaking late, I obviously wanted to SLEEP in. However, this morning I was woken by an earthquake.

It wasn’t a real earthquake- it would’ve been more interesting if it had been a real earthquake- but the Dish guys were adjusting the disk which is on the other side of my wall. The entire bed was shaking and the wall was rumbling, so before 8 this morning, I was under the impression that there was an earthquake.

BUT WAIT! It gets better! Already tired from lack of sleep, I went to piano today. And, what do you know? Piano was canceled. The only thing is, Heather sped away right after dropping me off. Thus, my piano teacher’s husband decided to teach me about waltzes.

Fun Waltz Facts:

  • They were most common in the 18th century
  • They were made popular by Strauss, a classic composer
  • They are in 3/4 time
  • The first beat of a measure is the most prominent
  • They are similar to rag-time, except for the timing
  • “Piano Man” by Billy Joel is an example of a modern waltz (the only example in “eons” according to my surrogate instructor)

Yes, I learned all of this in the fifteen minutes it took for Heather to turn around and get back to pick me up…

I suppose it could’ve been worse- I could’ve had to walk home…
