Weather…

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

Okay, with everything going on in my life right now, I may have some more important (and interesting) things to be posting about- like finals or Heather’s graduation- but I’ve decided to leave all that for another day. Right now, I’m going to post about the psychotic, bipolar weather here in Colorado.

Now before I start to talk about the weather I’d like to say that yes, I am going to just talk about the weather. I know, I know- this sort of fluff topic is one of those things that people roll their eyes about, like “are you seriously going to talk about the weather?!” Yes, because I want to. It’s my blog and I can do what I want. So there.

So, anyway, I’ve lived here for the better part of my 15 years of life, and the weather here still freaks me out. I mean, just this past month we’ve gone from 80°F to 20, had snow, rain, sun, clouds, wind, and everything in between. The weather here can just skip from one season to another in a matter of minutes, it’s cra~zy.

Just today, while driving, the mist and fog were so bad it was like something out of a movie. Creepy mist, dark sky, high trees. Sounds like something out of a horror movie… But yesterday I was running around in Capris and flip-flops, perfectly comfortable. It snowed last weekend, I might add. Yes, it is May, and yes, this is considered a typical week for us.

A lot of people, particularly people from out-of-state, don’t believe us when we talk about the weather. A week here surely cures them of that. I mean, all in one day an average resident here should wear two layers- even in May- and have a spare change of clothes in the car or something in case the weather changes- warmer or colder. Coats, wind breakers, hoodies, boots, and umbrellas should always be easily accessible- even in May- and there should always be a snow brush in the car- even in May. However, the opposite is also applicable. This winter, I played tennis every Sunday until January. So, December I was getting up at eight and pulling on a t-shirt to go play outside. It’s ridiculous!

Yeah, so that was my weather-rant, which you may have found totally boring. I’ll probably be more creative than weather in my next post…
