I have on again/ off again been on a mission to do a better job of keeping in touch with friends & family. Yes, I have the blog (or “news of the week” as it was formerly named), and yes, I email it out weekly (or rather have it auto-sent now)… and yes, I know I have about 200 subscribers… I think… and just when I think most of you aren’t reading it, I’ll get an out-of-the-blue email or phone call proving you do…
…but it’s just not the same.
I know that I have offline friends and family that are being neglected. When my grandparents were still alive, I made a conscious effort to keep in touch; mostly by converting my “news of the week” into book format and printing it out in large font print and actually snail-mailing a copy to each of them.
Actually, I try to annually convert it to book format…
… but alas, I have been remiss about mailing it to anyone.
However, still trying to appease my conscience over keeping in touch, I spent some time this spring break ‘editing’ my book format.
Why edit? Since my conversion to ‘blog’ (aka. WordPress) I am able to use numerous pictures per post, often as a slideshow. While this makes for good web viewing, I neither have the need (or patience) nor printer ink to put ALL the pictures in my handmade book. Don’t get me wrong, if you’ve seen any previous Volumes, it’s a real book, I just don’t think I need ALL the pictures to convey a message on paper ( and if I do, I’ll include them).
I actually completed editing the first quarter of 2012…
News Of The Week, Volume 16
I had to double-check that… 16 Volumes?!? I started in 1997 (technically Winter 1996 but lumped those into 1997)… feel free to correct my math but then I’ll have to go reprint Volumes 1-15 😉
Now… to get around to mailing it to my offline folks 😉
