Moment of silence
Courtney’s friend and classmate Abby Fast, lost her battle with cancer today. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

A great neighborhood
You know you live in a great neighborhood when a teenage kid wants to reschedule his birthday party to maximize the number of people (or grown up kids) that can go play paintball 😉

The CRAZY day
Any of you who saw me on Thursday have probably heard my “crazy day overload” story… where I felt like I had every single second scheduled and was running around from event to event. I was attempting to squeeze in some grocery shopping before Easter in between a meeting and a tennis match (oh, and taking pies to a track dinner). Next thing I know, I was being reminded that tennis was actually 45-60 minutes SOONER than I had planned (in her defense, she told me, it just didn’t stick). I ran in the house, dumped groceries and grabbed tennis stuff and was about to bolt out the door again when Jeff said “WAIT… I ‘need‘ to talk to you….” I stopped for all of 2 seconds and he said “My sister is going to come up this weekend.” I replied “That’s great!” and continued for the door…. but then it occurred to me that today is Thursday and that means this weekend could actually be tomorrow. I stopped, took about 1 step back toward him… “Ummm, when?” Yup, tomorrow. SOOO, good luck with that and bolted to tennis 😉
About an hour later, my neighbor calls me to inform me she has my son off the bus. UMMM, I’m at tennis, not in charge of bus today 😉 She let him walk home with the others and drove his backpack to the house, only to discover Jeff standing outside. He’d realized he was “without car” and couldn’t get William. More importantly, he was without car and baseball practice is in 30min and he is assistant coach… Our CRAZY day, quickly spilled over into hers 😉 GREAT BIG THANK YOU!
It was also an interesting trick to get kid #3 to basketball practice which just happened to be at the high school next to the baseball field Jeff was at…. without car 😉 These are the days we consider a 3rd car!
That was also the fastest “unremodel” of a bathroom ever. We had disassembled it to paint/sand, etc and had to put it back together 😉 [AND THIS… I why our neighbor’s think we only take things apart!]
Honestly, I think people should spring visits on us more often, it truly makes for interesting days!

Peanut falls with style
We have a stupid back deck… it’s just a square and there is no way to get from the deck to the backyard. The cats like to go out there and bird watch. Peanut often climbs down one of the posts to get to the ground (or vice-versa to come up). He was sitting out there and Courtney was watching him. She said he kept looking back to see if she was watching and suddenly he jumped. I said he was pretty smart because he was making sure someone would see if he got hurt and go for help 😉 but she pointed out that he had MEOWED first. I said “That changes everything. He didn’t just jump, he yelled TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!”

NOT an anniversary to celebrate
Columbine High School massacre was 12 years ago. Unless you had kids in school, and specifically kids in school in the Denver Metro area, this might just be something that you vaguely remember and mourn. However, anyone with kids in high school in Colorado now, will tell you that things are a bit different here now. Who knows what the policies are elsewhere in the country, but I can certainly assure you that no high school in the Denver Metro area would ever consider (much less get approved) removing cell phones from high schools. As a result, they have embraced this decision and actually do a lot to utilize the cell phones in the schools. There are tip lines, and volunteer groups and even voting contests…
Heather was in kindergarten… she happened to be home sick that day….
Today is a day that our district remembers… none of the kids have school, it’s a scheduled teacher in-service now as many parents for years kept their kids home.
Remembering……

Weightloss tracking systems
Jeff found this application a while back, for his iPhone (yes, he was walking around saying “there’s an app for that!) I do NOT have an iPhone, yet, I have found this online tool to be fairly useful. It’s simple to use, sometimes I wish it tracked a few more nutrients (like iodine & potassium) but it’s actually been great. I’ve been using it since about mid-December (kinda pre-New Year’s resolution kicking in)… I used it faithfully for a few months, then didn’t… THEN… found I missed it and went back!
Supposedly, they are developing apps for other types of phones but I think only iPhone is supported at this time. HOWEVER, like I said… it’s very easy to use ONLINE.
You can choose to share information with “friends” or NOT share anything. You can have it send you email reminders and/or motivations. I talked to a group of people that live near here and they have formed a “weightloss group” and all used this application to help track and motivate each other!

Stuck in traffic
Being stuck in traffic is not the same as it used to be, even just a few years ago. I was stuck in traffic, it was just getting dark and the vehicle in front of me was a minivan… with a DVD player. I have to say, you really can’t ask for a better setup when you are stuck in traffic. I basically had a 3rd row seat to Shrek and it certainly made the 20 minutes or so we sat there and just creeped along… MUCH MORE BEARABLE! So hey, if you have a DVD player and you find yourself stuck in traffic, please consider those BEHIND you… and clear the view 😉 TRUST ME… they will appreciate your efforts!
