Lessons Learned About Fire

I figure this will be an ongoing list….

1) One does not just grab a soapy rag and wipe away smoke soot.  It requires cleansers and scrubbing…

2) Toilets (or anything that holds water) in a home where a fire occurs will collect soot in the tanks?!?!  All toilets and A LOT of soot?!?  Brita water pitchers… fish tanks… Keurig coffee makers… Cat water dishes!

UGH! and irons! If I’d emptied & cleaned it before heating it up, it might have been fine. At least I always get dust off and “iron the ironing board cover first”…. I *think* I rescued the plate by using a drop of dishwasher detergent.

I have vinegar soaking in it now….

3) The more things you touch that have fire soot on them, will cause fire soot to exponentially spread!
