… or maybe it was Elvira 😉 If you’ve been browsing through the pictures from Christmas Day, you’ve seen one with Courtney holding an old Oak Ridge Boys CD, with a note that there’s a story to go with it. Here it is…
We have had an Oak Ridge Boys Christmas CD forever… 20 years or so I think. Courtney likes that CD and plays it every year at Christmas, and then comes the comment about “how LOW that guy’s voice gets” and then,… the stories…
When I was a kid, I distinctly remember my dad obliging a bunch of 10-12 year old little girls (me & my friends, and possibly my siblings) by imitating the “Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-Bobbie-Sue” or “boom poppa boom poppa boom poppa mow wow” (or whatever the heck it is) in Elvira. We’d giggle and beg him to do it again. AND HE ALWAYS WOULD! And having surpassed the age my dad was at that time, I’m amazed at how big a sap he was 😉 and impressed that those memories have lingered on for the telling.
Courtney has been dying to experience this first hand 😉 However, she has never in fact heard any of the songs that I talk about. If memory serves me right, my dad had these songs on 8-track!
So as I was shopping for Christmas and browsing through bins of older CD’s… I found an Oak Ridge Boys CD with BOTH, Elvira and Bobbie Sue! Courtney’s new favorite song is now Bobbie Sue 😉
Watch out dad, Courtney is surely planning a reunion for you and Bobbie Sue!
