[pics incl] We left for San Diego after William got home from Boy Scout camp today (well, to be more accurate, AFTER, he had a shower when he got home from Boy Scout camp 🙂 ) I posted the picture of 51 degrees at the top of the tunnel, brrrr. We stopped in Grand Junction for the night.

What are ya’ll’s favorite features in a GPS… and why? Does your GPS have features for towing?
I highly recommend that after you purchase your vehicle tags, that you put them on immediately. Otherwise, the next person to drive the vehicle may go fill it up with gas and throw away all the trash, including the apparently empty envelope. This will precipitate a panicked search an hour later at said gas station, where they just completed their trash pickup. However, after frantically chasing down the trash cart, the day was saved when the station employee knew exactly which bag it must be in and voila… the NOT empty envelope was found. WHEW!
If any of you locals ever need auto glass work done, give our neighbor Rodney Schroth a call at Guardian Auto Glass. Thanks for installing the new windshield Rod!
[NOTE: as of February 2015, He has now opened his OWN glass business and no longer works for Guardian…!]
Our phones started going off about 4:30am this morning to check on whether the girls had gone to the premiere of the Batman movie as planned. None of them decided to go to the midnight showing of the movie. Then we started getting phone calls and texts about people whom we knew HAD gone. Thankfully, all are accounted for but it makes you stop and think. I’ve had other parents say “I would never let my child go to a midnight show” and that is certainly one choice. Our girls have worked hard and were originally planning to go with groups of other “good kids.” There is no way to anticipate a tragedy such as this… Columbine happened during lunch at the high school.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone!
[pics incl] Courtney’s first attempt at making Grandma Patsy’s banana bread. I’m never cooking again ;-).
it’s the same recipe that Heather and I use… I think the only difference is that she was singing “the farmer in the dell”…. more research is needed 😉

[pics incl] SOOO, we were caulking around the back door and realized that whomever installed the wood siding had put it over “used” plywood. I mean, it looks like someone used the board underneath their saw blade for the duration!?!?! We have a garden… ok, I say we, I mean Jeff 😉 We also have a rose bush that we have intentionally (and unintentionally) killed several times over the years 😉 And our neighbors have new critters in their backyard that I am sure will migrate to ours!
