How to NOT Win Tickets

Courtney has been absolutely impatient waiting for Les Miserables to come to theaters.  When she discovered that a local paper was giving away free tickets if you txt’d a code from your cell phone… she promptly confiscated all cell phones (except mine… another story).  Today, we get a text in ALL CAPS THAT SHE HAS WON 2 TICKETS TO LES MISERABLES TONIGHT!!!  After Jeff confirmed this was legitimate, she frantically arranged to get to the movie … amazingly another one of her friend has also won 2 tickets.  The four of them got there a couple of hours early and waited in line with dozens of other winners.  Apparently, it was first-come-first-serve, so they were passing out tickets until they ran out… at the person in front of Courtney and friends.  Please help us all!

The Song of the Owl

Owl song is passionately meaningful, with deep pitches, sustained warbling, long pauses and bursts of exuberance. Many owl songs last for hours! I know this because it’s 3:15am and I’ve been serenaded by on owl, just outside my window, for the past hour. I have had time to reflect on the fact that this owl is actually only about 6 feet from my head. I watched it for a bit and it has what appears to be a good 5+ foot wingspan. I’m debating hot cocoa for the duration 😉

Conrad’s Eagle Project

Very proud of William!  He helped an Eagle Scout in his troop complete his Eagle project by collecting food for the local Women’s Crisis Center to provide 100 meals for Christmas.  I think William realized the enormity of an Eagle project when his part was only a fraction of Conrad’s project and it filled our Suburban!  Thanks to all our neighbors who kicked in some food for the cause!

[pics incl] Guess the world didn’t end at 12/12/12 12:12:12… but the Mayan calendar ends 12/21/12 so we still have a few more days to figure out if they were correct, lazy or just ran out of room to write 😉

William came in later today and announced that there is a chance, a very small chance, that he could live to see the next 12/12/12. He said he only has to live to be 112 😉 Well, there is longevity in the family, with some living past 100! Courtney told him he should make that his lifelong ambition 🙂
