Folding clothes

Heather and I were chatting while I was folding a few loads of laundry.  As I was folding a couple pairs of jeans, I realized that I wasn’t sure whom they belonged to.  This often happens with mine and/or the girls’ clothes… BUT… in this case, I was fairly certain that I was holding a pair of Courtney’s jeans and a brand new pair of William’s jeans.  I stopped talking.  This is a huge indicator in our family that something serious just happened ;-P  Heather said “What’s wrong?!?!”  So…. I matched up the waistbands… and sure enough, William’s jeans are longer than Courtney’s jeans.  I wasn’t going to tell her; I was going to let her read it here first… but she walked in shortly after I had just compared all her pants lengths to Williams and Heather and I were still laughing from the results 😉

Is it Easter yet?

I was at the store buying stuff for Courtney to make a cake from scratch and while I was in the checkout line… There was a Cadbury Egg Easter display!??!  SERIOUSLY!?!?

Dear Deer…

I wish I had pictures of this…  We pulled into the driveway to see a couple of does eating the grass in the front yard (SEE!!!?!  THIS is why I can’t get the grass to grow!).  They looked up and continued with their dinner.  The key to living with wildlife is to NOT startle them and allow them to live where they live… which also includes my front yard 😉  This means you should NOT get out of your car when they are <10 feet away from you.  SOOO, we sat and watched them and then another doe joined them.  After 10-15 minutes, they decided to meander slowly across the road, but one stopped across from the driver’s window and just watched us as if it was saying “The key to living with humans, is to not startle them … ;-)”

Was that a lunar eclipse?

I woke up early this morning and looked out the window and there was a gorgeous full moon in the sky.  But apparently I have dirty windows because there was a smudge in the way.  Trust me, when it’s 5am and you didn’t know about a lunar eclipse beforehand, you will reach out and try to wipe the smudge off the moon 😉

Peanut hears Heather

Heather called and I had her on speaker phone so that we could all talk to her.  After several minutes, Peanut (cat) came into the room and started meowing.  Heather heard Peanut and started calling to him saying “here kitty, here Peanut….”  He bolted over to my hand and snuggled with the phone and began looking around.  She continued to call for him and he came back to the phone.  After the third time, extreme irritation entered his expression and he was clearly fed up with the phone.  But I have to say, those of us in the room with him were extremely amused and laughing hysterically!

Nearby buck

[pics incl]  A buck was out in the backyard watching us and Ashley went to grab the camera and caught a photo of him as he was leaving.

Hanging Christmas lights

[pics incl]  You might be a redneck if you’ve ever dangled your daughter off the roof to hang Christmas lights; and the corollary to this:  You might be a redneck if you have ever let your dad tie you to the roof to hang Christmas lights.  Both are true here 😉  And, I have to throw in here somewhere that Courtney put on the shoes that William just said were too small 😉 [For the record:  I was NOT here while Courtney was dangling from the roof… or there would be pictures.] I’ve added captions for your amusement 😉

[NOTE: took more pictures in progress 11/30/11]

The thing about beans

Overheard:  All we need is a bunch of beans and some of dad’s socks.

I was tempted to leave it at that 😉

Ya know how little preschoolers and elementary kids make special arts and crafts for their parents for holidays?  Like the traced hand turkey, macaroni ornaments, Mother’s Day love poem, etc.   Courtney made a snowman in the 3rd grade using beans and a long tube sock.  Her snowman died a horrible, terrible death today.  During the course of decorating the tree I commented that I thought they should all sit down and make me new macaroni ornaments, etc!  Courtney said they should make new snowmen.
