Abby’s Homecoming 09/19/2015

[pics incl]  Abby came over to continue the ritual of me taking pictures of “my kids” for homecoming 😉  Jeff beat me to it and snapped a really nice picture with his phone.  After several minutes of chatting, it came up that Laurie is not home… which, “by the code, of all mom’s with girls going to dances” makes ME in charge of the “real photos” (not that I’m knocking Nathan’s picture taking prowess 😉 ).  I decided that we better get a “real” camera and go over to the trees and take several… just in case.  Good thing too because in Jeff’s photo, Abby’s dress looks black but it’s dark blue.  Lovely young lady and beautiful smile!

Salt Block Salmon

Well, we had this salmon we were gonna grill (and by we… I mean not me)… and Jeff happened to mention that to, none other than, the guy who gave him the salt block. Now we have “salt block recipes” [ Zucchini courtesy of Velma’s & David’s garden and the empañadas are from our local farmer’s market ]

Will’s Fairy Tale Cosplay

[pics incl] Funny story. Apparently, Courtney brought back gifts, for everyone, from China. I know this because I accidentally stumbled across a “giant bag of stuff” on my desk. Coincidentally, William has “cosplay day” at school tomorrow (yes, he said “COSPLAY! I go to a geek school!”)

Flashback to “bag of stuff” and Courtney has dumped out things on my bed… she comments that she feels bad for not giving “these things” to William… “Hey, William, come here!”

William appears I my room… in full cosplay dress…?!? and Courtney hands him one of her gifts, which happens to be a Japanese anime of the outfit/character he is wearing?!?

Courtney, Monina and Minister Chen

[pics incl] A couple of weeks ago, Courtney took off of class to work at Magic Rabbit because Kevin was bringing the Taiwanese Minister for a visit. She and Monina took a photo and Courtney said a few things in Chinese (I’m assuming he speaks Chinese). What a special honor for these girls! (and for Minister Chen as well 🙂 )

Ode to Missing Sunglasses

today’s laugh, courtesy of customer:

A lady drove back because she couldn’t find her sunglasses. I was helping another customer, so I just glanced over at “lost & found” & replied “none have been turned in”… but when I looked at her…

they were ON HER HEAD! 😛

There were several people in line, we all laughed for a while. I’m out of punch cards or I’d have given her extra 😉 someone said “but we’ve all done that” … and, without thinking I said, “yah, but that was IN PU-BLICK” (Ron white voice)…

only the guys totally got that!

What Makes Your Heart Skip a Beat

[pics incl]  Today, as I came up over a hill, I saw a wreck that included a school bus.  I don’t have any kids riding a bus, and I do not know any kids that would have been riding THIS bus, but it’s one of those things that makes your heart skip a beat!  There were helicopters circling overhead.  I was stopped during the time I took these photos as officers were escorting students to the church directly off to the front of the bus.  I *THINK* what I was seeing was actually students whom had been medically cleared, allowed back to get their belongings from the bus (that’s what it appeared to me anyway, I have no way of knowing).  If you look closely, you can see the tires of the small pickup truck on the other side of the bus, behind the back wheels.  Since I was driving, I was unable to snap a photo, but I was stopped again briefly within view… and the truck was literally flattened and demolished, in the front, with debris completely underneath the bus.  As a parent, my heart goes out to all the parents that had children on this bus!

Mario Visits 08/23/15

[pics incl] Mario and Debbie came to visit. Mario brought a deck of cards and the challenge was on! He also had to drag a stool over and closely inspect that Courtney’s hair met his approval.
