[pics incl] Mario and Debbie stopped by and brought her niece, Colby & baby Zachary! Mario brushed everyone’s hair (well, NOT Ashley, though he tried). He insisted that the girls line up on the stairs, he arranged them to his liking, then called me over to take a picture!
She asked, “Am I pretty yet?” “NO!”
Baby Zachary (5 mo) had heart valve surgery and was released today.

We are all still walking around a little numb; we still burst into tears, but slowly we have found some smiles intermingled.
Roni and John have done so much to help all of us (and by that I mean EVERYONE) cope with our feelings. They know we all want to do whatever we can to help them, and each other, celebrate his life. His birthday was a bittersweet opportunity for everyone to gather. I think Roni said there were 80 people at this National Forest ATV campground. I took a photo out the window as we arrived but a few more campers & tents arrived afterward. We parked where Heather’s maroon truck is up front. I had William take a panoramic (click on it).

Roni started a bonfire and we all held hands and sang “Happy Birthday, Dalton.” Before you think I didn’t, we had TWO takes because the fire didn’t really start at first; it was such a beautiful moment, I had to take a photo. I cried the entire time, I hope it helps you see. I know many of you would have been here.

Today, I tried to take a picture of the mountains in the background, it was a spectacular view in person. The photo doesn’t do it justice!
A couple weeks ago, Nightwing brought me his straw and played fetch a few times, when all of a sudden, he pulled a stance like a puppy. He had his front feet stretched out, tail in the air wagging… then, he just took off around the corner.
A minutes later, he came trotting back to me, head cocked to the side, clearly confused. Since, I speak cat (and just a little puppy), “What? Did you think I was gonna follow you?” POOF, he took the stance and bolted. AND, trotted right back with an attitude. “Where did this come from? “I” play fetch with you, where’s your straw?” I picked up the straw and tossed it. He glanced over his shoulder, I got a look, THE LOOK. He took “the stance,” looked over his shoulder, looked at me and took some quick steps, looked back at me and took “the stance” again. “Do you think you are teaching ME to play chase?!” Curious, I stomped my foot, POOF he was gone. I walked to hall but no kitty-puppy, when he came tearing around another corner. STANCE, STOMP… he was gone! And, he was back, I’m convinced he was laughing outloud and out of breath! I appeased him with a few more stomps before he collapsed, thoroughly pleased with himself for FINALLY teaching me “chase.”
That evening, I asked everyone “who Dunnit?” Expecting a kid, I was genuinely surprised when Jeff claimed responsibility! 🙂 He described his antics of sliding on the tile around corners and jumping out to tackle the kitten-puppy. We were all amused.
Last week, Jeff proudly described the new “flying squirrel” trick that goes along with “chase.” Apparently, after running circles, Nightwing will flail out all his legs and “glide/fly” down the stairs.
TODAY, Courtney and I got to WITNESS “THE CHASE” live-in-person. Wishing loudly that I had video of Jeff chasing the cat, we laughed hysterically. I think our sudden outburst threw off their rhythm because before “the flying squirrel” attempt, Jeff stopped “What?” and Nightwing hid.

[pics incl] Today was a relatively nice day. The fire station out front was having drills, it was 68+ out. I had the hose out washing things in the front yard. I had all doors & some windows opened and all the cats were following me in/out like puppies (because TODAY, Peanut & Popcorn decided to be nice to Nightwing?!? … Ashley said, “it must be his birthday.” I defer to Drew???)
Now I’m wondering if I should go out in the rain/sleet/hail & unhook the hose. The temperature dropped 20+ in less than hour! Now everything is shut & fireplace is on (I have no idea how it’s staying on, wind gusts of 30pmh!
Had to go out in it again to get William from youth group! After we pulled into the garage & snapped this photo, William went & unhooked the hose 🙂 It was pouring down sleet! He got all bundled up, gloves & all, stepped outside… and it stopped!
[NOTE: It promptly started back up again and in the morning everything was iced over and frozen!]

Claudia and her sister Clarissa are spending Easter weekend with us, I think mostly because we said “You are NEVER to old to make Easter eggs…”
As we were pulling out the Easter box, I showed them cookie cutters and said something about bunny cookies … we have cookie dough.  I took the others to the lightrail and Jeff told Claudia that he expected bunny cookies when he got home (yes, he was joking… seriously, he was joking seriously 😉 )
It takes about 20+ minutes roundtrip to go to the lightrail, and when I returned home… Claudia and Clarissa had made cookies. Having never made cookies without adult supervision….
See that pile of crumbs in the top right corner? They had baked the cookies THEN used the cookie cutters. I smiled. I had to leave the room. THEN… I explained that it might have been easier if they had cut the cookies out BEFORE baking them. After several minutes, Claudia said “I bet we wouldn’t have wasted as many cookies…”
AND… now they know 😉 We didn’t get a chance to make more the correct way 😉

It seems that maybe some of you have not received all the details for Aunt Sis’ (Ruth Eggermann) Memorial Saturday, 17 May 2014, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville, INDIANA. I PLAN to attend and will probably be calling to see if there is any room at family residences, so we can visit 😉 I’m just not sure how many sleeping bags “we” will need. Right now, bringing a couple kids, so… 3, but maybe only 2 sleeping bags, or maybe 4, if I start bringing stray cats 😉 SOOO, if YOU read this blog, YOU need to tell YOUR siblings, YOUR parents, YOUR offspring, ANYONE wanting to attend an extended Bacon-Eggermann reunion!

The wind was blowing so much on Sunday, it was impossible to see how much snow, there was a LOT more than seen by 7:00am Monday.
While it was still pretty cold all day, by 7:00pm, it was melting quickly.
