Some Grown Up Humor
Ashley: Girls shouldn’t get their periods until they’re no longer virgins. I can assure you that I don’t need to know if I’m pregnant until then!

Thyroid Ultrasound 09/17/13
I still have (or not have) all the weird “stuff”… but…
All Clear 09/17/2013!
In true fashion, I talked to them Friday to confirm my appointment 8:30am (be there by 8:10am), and they didn’t have me on the schedule! Fortunately, they worked me in because I was very early and there was a big wreck on the freeway, making everyone else late.
This ultrasound was a little interesting, I’m still not very good at having my head inverted nor having my head on the left side very long without pain. Had to take a few breaks but otherwise uneventful (unlike all the previous years 🙂 ). Doc was able to see less blood flow down my left neck though. 🙁
Previously, about the weird stuff, she told me again today what it’s called but by the time I was trying to type it up, I’d forgotten it!

Products without Carrageenan
I’m extremely allergic to carrageenan; took me forever to narrow that down & figure it out several years ago. I’m also pretty sensitive to MSG!
Here’s a list on NON-carrageenan dairy:

House Painting in Progress-2
[pics incl] I’m sure ya’ll have all heard about the floods in CO. I took a photo of the clouds rolling in on Sunday. There were clouds rolling in when I snapped photos the other day too: http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2013/09/14/house-painting-in-progress/
We are very fortunate to be above/out of those areas. On that note, we are obviously in no rush to have our minor repairs dealt with (all major repairs, ie. leaks were repaired). So, the painting is getting done here & there as weather permits. There’s a bunny checking out the garage doors (far right by door bottom).
House Painting in Progress
[pics incl] No longer white with blue trim; it’ll be tan with brown trim. I really wanted to poll the neighbors (because THEY are the ones looking at it 24/7 🙂 ) for their opinion prior to d-day but, since it’s been raining everyday since Monday, we really didn’t have the opportunity. This wasn’t my first choice of colors, but since we live in a democracy, I was outvoted 5-1 😉
Ashley’s Cadaver Lab
[pics incl] I DON’T THINK SO!!! 🙂 Ya’ll thought I was gonna post “I see dead people” pics didn’t you?! 🙂 I won’t let her talk about it, however, she did mention being a little squeamish holding the brain. She was given instructions as a child to call Aunt Andrea or Aunt Patti as payback. If you want details, please contact Ashley directly 🙂
Flooding in CO
To those not in CO… Our house is not in/near the flooding areas … right now anyway. Heather is in Denver so we are watching that. Most of the flooding is north or east. CRAZY! all mountain roads are closed. boulder, estes park, aurora are UNDER water 8-9 inches rain since midnight. FYI, we are south denver just north of castle rock.
Our neighborhood sits up on a ridge for surrounding areas. The river through our backyard a couple weeks ago, dissipated immediately.

Our friend Kevin has withdrawn from the DCSD BOE election this year. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK before voting (especially along party lines) because everything is not as you might think. If you do not have kids, come talk to mine! Nothing tells you more about how things are faring than hearing it from students!
Here is my two-cents: these four candidates deserve your consideration:

Interesting View About Vaccines
http://gianelloni.wordpress.com/2013/09/13/why-all-the-measles-outbreaks/
We are fortunate to have healthy kids! However, I learned to WAIT to give the vaccines AND to have them administered one at a time vs. one in each arm/leg (sometimes, giving a small infant 4-multi function shots simultaneously!!!). I learned this because Courtney didn’t thrive; she was <12 lbs at a year old! The doctors kept saying she didn’t weigh enough to vaccinate. However, they gave those same vaccines to Heather in her first few months. I was confused and started researching.
When Heather was four (actually, it was <3wks before her birthday), she got a vaccine. Ever since that day, I have been fighting with schools over whether or not she had “her 4yr shots!” It’s no big deal that Courtney is off schedule by months/years but 18days has them running circles! I found out it really didn’t matter because the vaccines all needed boosters EVERY 10yrs?!? So, I asked what was different about “these new shots” vs. the ones I received as a child… NOT MUCH!
Flash forward a few years and Ashley is kid #3, 18mo check up. We are both sick but the doctor wants me to bring her anyway. Guess what? We both have the measles?!? Apparently, we were contagious for days/weeks prior. Explain how vaccines helped? Ashley couldn’t get any shots that day because she was sick. I asked a lot of questions because what if this had been the day before where we felt fine. What would have happened then? The answers were enough to make me really research every vaccine! You should too!!!
Some of the newer vaccines/flu shots have some very scary adverse effects that are considered MILD (as if paralysis, sterility & death are mild). I’ve had my “adult” doctors tell me that vaccines are made strong enough for a 200lb man, yet they are expected to administer in infants! Think about mercury derivatives used as a preservative!
I learned to ask about Lot numbers and to research recalls BEFORE getting vaccines!
Do your homework and make an informed decision about EACH vaccine; keep in mind that they may not be the same as previous years and watch for “the switch” (ie. DTP vs. TDP, tdP, etc).
