Where do you live?

Apparently we live in a rich county… per Forbes magazine.  I’ve always said we live just on the outskirts of “yuppyville”… guess I was more right than I realized 😉  I suppose this explains why I can’t afford anything around here 😉 (notice I said “we” live on the outskirts…)

PROM!

Let me define “prom” from my perspective… I HATE to shop, I do NOT own a pair of heels and have only worn heels once because my sister made me to her wedding, I’ve never had a manicure (because I’m a chicken), I don’t paint my nails… shall I continue?  Let’s just say that my poor daughters possibly do NOT get the female pampering most teenage girls might receive from their mothers 😉  Now, imagine prom from that perspective… 😉

Enlist one neighbor who is an accomplished shopping queen.  Of course, I will tag along, maybe I’ll learn something, but probably not.  Viola… one gorgeous dress emerges!

Lasso the hairstylist we’ve used for about 7 years… and as a bonus she’ll bring her sister who does makeup!…  [Debbie is my hero!  and I know Mario always helps watch to make sure everything is going as planned ;-)]

Put a 2nd teenage daughter in charge of the flowers…

Have a friend show up unexpectedly… with the PERFECT jewelry?!?!

Mention all of the above to a retired neighbor with a photography hobby…

the late “txt”

I was sitting here one evening and received a txt from my neighbor asking if I could take the kids to the bus in the morning.  “Sure thing, just give me a head’s up before they walk over here!”  OOOPS… apparently I received her txt message EXACTLY 24 hours after she sent it?!?!  SOOOOO, in case of emergency, please do not rely on txt message to reach me 😉

Scotts On The Rocks

Apparently sometime this weekend, there was a program in Europe about a house called “Scotts On The Rocks” and I’ve gotten a few emails from people all over the world requesting access to MY “house pictures.”  Trust me when I say… ours is NOT the house you want to see… it’s either the Bed & Breakfast in Canada (which looks gorgeous from the pics by the way) or the one in Newcastle (and this one must be absolutely FABULOUS to be in the running for Northern Ireland House of the Year 2011) or even one that I am unaware.

Ok, I know that all of the people on my subscriber list know that “we” are “Scotts on the Rocks”… and why…  right?

Over the years I have had requests to make reservations for people to stay with us (hehe, that started in 1999)… and have redirected them to the Bed & Breakfast in Canada. [NOTE: at the time I wrote this their website was down but information could be found here: http://www.rentcottage.com/showcottage.cfm?cottagenumber=676 ]  I have had requests to book my pipe band at their event… and redirected them to the Scottish troupe (and those men sent us pictures of their Scottish kilt band… YES… that’s men in skirts) 😉  We are NOT the “other” site either, check your spelling.  Early last year the Kardashians (sp?) did something with the name “Scotts on the Rocks,” because I got a few emails about that as well.  I can also assure you that we are NOT the gallery in Hawaii selling the $100 shirt.  We are not the yacht named Scotts on the Rocks.  I also heard last year that there is a band near Seattle 😉

I’m sorry, but even though you are probably very nice people… you cannot have access to my house photo gallery.

[NOTE: April 5, 2011 I was contacted by a European business guide (took me a while to realize it’s a phone book) all in a panic because they are about to print their directory and “we” are NOT in it and how did that happen if we are on the tellie?]

How ’bout that weather?

Yesterday it was GORGEOUS!!!  We were out and about and it was 82 and lovely. (NOTE:  Apparently Denver broke a long standing record high with 84 degress.  The previous record had been 76 degrees set in 1882 and tied in 1996)  We decided that we’d spend today doing some much needed yardwork.  This morning it wasn’t quite as warm but it was about 58.  Little did we know that would be the HIGH.  A little after noon, the clouds rolled in and by 12:30pm it was SNOWING… not raining… SNOWING.  It’s still snowing.  Not really sticking to anything but HELLO!?!?  It was 82 yesterday and it’s 24 right now with a windchill of 14.  Gotta love spring in Colorado 😉

Facebook email not working

Those of you that are on Facebook PLEASE do not email me via the FB messaging… it has NEVER worked properly… from day one! AND… now I no longer have access to it at all… for the past month or so.  If you need to contact me, please email my personal email account instead.

AND… while I have you… PLEASE do not send me Tier3 emails to my FB account, chat Id’s or text my cell phone.  I do not login to FB or chat ID’s every day and our cell service is sporadic at best.  I’d love to offer you better customer service.  We have a dedicated email for Tier3 customers:  support@tier3consulting.com  Better yet, go fill out the form on the Tier3 website:  http://www.tier3consulting.com It’s a monitored account so I may not be the only one checking that account or answering your question…. that’s better for YOU!

ABC

ABC=Abby Beats Cancer.  That’s a new acronym, much more powerful. Abby Fast is a classmate of Courtney’s. Abby’s cancer returned. 🙁  Next week, for the next two weeks (April 4-15th), RCHS will be hosting ABC Week.  This fundraiser was organized by four of her best friends.

I’ve mentioned before that the girl’s high school this year had “Kids for Wish Kids” (part of the Make-A-Wish foundation) and raised $40, 271.15 in one week. http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2011/03/03/make-a-wish-granted/ This was all for a child none of them knew and met during “wish week.”

This time, it’s a friend, it’s close to home.

Fuzzy deer

I’ve mentioned the fuzzy deer before, as they were checking out whether or not to climb up on the trampoline, which they decided not to do at the time.  However, they were back today.  I haven’t decided if it’s one mommy and three babies… that seems odd, but from appearances, that’s what they look like.
