Giant jar of giant pickles

I dare you to try and say that several times really fast 😉  We were at Sam’s or Costco and we had a 10yr old boy with us… who found a giant jar of giant pickles.  Of course, our first instinct was to say “no” but then we realized that there were 25-30 pickles in the jar for about $3…  Most of us like pickles, so we were curious of the fact that we might be able to entertain the majority of the family with snacks for a while.  As you can imagine, this giant jar of giant pickles has brought amusement for the duration. (mostly in the chanting of “giant jar of giant pickles” every time anyone opens the jar up).  If your family enjoys pickles… and you have fridge space… you might consider a GIANT JAR OF GIANT PICKLES.  (and curse my sister for spelling her last name Pickel… it made this post very difficult to type! 😉 ).

Do I have your correct address?

A few of my misplaced Christmas cards have been returned to me… can you please take a minute to make sure I have your correct address? (especially if you did NOT get a card this year)

Aglet

I’ve decided that there is an entire generation of kids that will actually know what an aglet is, because of a children’s cartoon tv show.  The entire show was dedicated to educating the world on the significance of an aglet.  I was amused… therefore I am sparing you the definition and forcing you to look it up for yourself… 😉

I love my fingernails!

Anyone who has known me for any length of time has probably seen me do the “stupid fingernail trick” where I can bend/mash my fingernails and or just peel them apart like sheets of paper.  I have always had stupid nails… they are pointless.  And forget getting my hands wet, the nails just peel off as I mentioned.  Handwashing dishes has always been my nemesis (or washing babies 😉 ).  Yes, I have tried everything… go ahead, test me.  I tried that hoof cream, loads of different vitamins, different fingernail “paints” that were supposed to help.  NONE DID!  Often, whenever, I took vitamins, my fingernails would grow crazy long, but still thin and flimsy, often with ridges in them.  Cutting thin, flimsy nails is difficult!  Filing is impossible!

However, since I have switched to Juice Plus, my nails do not grow quite as fast, which is something I noticed almost immediately.  Yet, they grow stronger and thicker, without any ridges?!?!  After a month, I noticed that my nails weren’t as flimsy, especially when wet and I began pointing it out to others “OOOOH, I hope this lasts!”  Now I feel confident in saying that Juice Plus has helped me grow stronger nails.

I LOVE MY FINGERNAILS!!!

How to read more of the blog

I received many, many emails this week complaining that all I do is send previews of the blogs in my email and then you cannot read the rest.  One of you even accused me of teasing you 😉  Let me be clear… if you are getting my blog email… then YOU already have my permission to read my blog… but you do have to sign in.  The login keeps random internet users out of our personal stuff.  Here’s how:

Click on the LOGIN button (it’s in the lefthand menu down toward the bottom under ADMIN LINKS), if you cannot remember your password, tell it you forgot and it’ll email you a new one.  If you cannot remember your userid, click on register, fill out your email address, create a new userid… it’ll email you what you need to login.  Sorry for the confusion!  You don’t need me… I already approved you 🙂

Happy reading!

HOWEVER… if you are not on my list already, you can still register… it’ll send me a request for approval and then send you a password…. AND… welcome to my life 😉

Supermoon

The picture doesn’t do it justice… but you can see the outline of the pines and mountains within the highlights of the moon.  One of these days, I’ll figure out lowlight pictures!

Christmas cards mailed… finally

OK… I *THINK* all the Christmas cards have officially been mailed.  However, considering that I thought I mailed them all a long time ago, it’s possible that I missed someone.  Will you PLEASE let me know if you did NOT get a card?!?!  I assure you… I actually sent out over 200 cards… and YOU were on the list!!!

What do I do?

For those of you wondering what it is that I do all day… it’s called Tier3 Consulting.  I actually created a presentation to explain to people what it is I do… and I present it later this week to our business networking group. (wish me luck, brains have been known to explode when I “talk tech” to people).

HOWEVER, I would like to point out that Tier3 now has several new logos custom designed by Heather.  One is already up on the Tier3 Facebook page.  Watch for them on the Tier3 website(s) [http://www.tier3consulting.com], the Tier3 Backup software and business cards… coming soon.  THANK YOU HEATHER for spending time and creating a NICE set of quality logos… The check is in the mail. 😉

Dear little old lady…

Today, a little old lady ran the red light as I was bringing William home from school.  HOWEVER, I saw her coming, suspected she was not going to stop and was able to SLAM on my brakes before she arrived.  She reacted by slamming on her brakes as well, and I sat there in the middle of the intersection for what seemed like a long time but was probably only a nano-second.  The look on her face was incredulous and I knew… I KNEW… she would not have even slowed down had I not stopped first.  No harm done… no harm=no foul, right?

But that brings up an interesting point.  WHEN… when do you have “that talk” about giving up your license?  I mean, think about it, a little old lady… let’s say 85, is left to decide whether she is capable of driving safely.  Maybe she is, maybe this was a fluke, I have certainly been caught by “that imaginary line” but this was not like that.  I was the 6-7th car through the light, there were LOTS of other cars stopped all around her, she was just not paying attention.

I know people like her.  They creep out of the driveway, without really looking, make all right turns to their destination and drive 12mph the entire way.  It’s sweet… to a point.

I can not imagine having to give up independence and rely on others for transportation.  However, I come back to my point… WHEN do you have that talk?  At some point, safety is an issue but how is that addressed?  I do not know the answer.  I hope that any of you would consider addressing this as part of the normal procedure (regardless of age)  “If these things happen (eyesight, health, tickets, etc)… then I agree to give up my license…”

Thanking those guardian angels of driving… once again.
