William and Jeff at Broncos Game 10/30/16

[pics incl]  Jeff’s work vendors invited William to join them in their stadium suite at the Broncos game today.  William didn’t know it also included special passes to go down into the tunnel where the team enters/exits. He has previously golfed with these guys a few times so when he was invited by name to attend he certainly appreciated being considered!

When I got up this morning, Peanut & I watched the sunrise… wonder if it means anything? It was a lot more vibrant about 5 minutes sooner but sometimes you just gotta leave the devices alone and watch it with your own eyes.

He needed a new jersey because he grew out of his 🙂 I kinda thought #58 was appropriate considering the history [see more about Von Millee’s charity:  http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2016/06/22/vons-visions/]  As I dropped them off at them literail, I realized I had forgotten to snap the picture at home before we left.  They obliged my crazy, “wait” leaving the truck right there with Claudia in it, while I ran around it and ordered them to SMILE!

They are txt’ing me these photos prior to kickoff.  This is Thunder.  After dropping off Claudia at home, I went to pick up Josh while his parents are “rearranging some furniture!” ha!  (ask me again tomorrow…) Josh thought I was rescuing him from such treacherous work but he’s been a sport and brought in my cast iron from the camper I cannot lift 🙂  He & I are hanging out at the park having a nice lunch now discussing whether the Broncos will win.  Neither of us… really keep up … so that was a very short conversation.  I know William and Jeff will have A LOT more to say about the game today.

Broncos won so I guess that sunrise WAS orange and blue ;-P

William’s New Do

[pics incl]  William needed new dress clothes….  On a last minute whim we discovered a barber shop near Men’s Wearhouse and he decided to let the stylist decide his fate.  She immediately put his hair in a pony tail on top his head.  Josh & I TRIED to convince them to do it like Josh’s hair 😛

20161029_taz_photos-004_edited-1

This was a HUGE deal for him because he has NEVER in his life had anyone touch his hair, other than Debbie.  [NOTE:  No, you’re not going crazy, there are TWO Debbie’s]  This was just a “he needs it by tomorrow and the barber shop is here and is this something you want to do?”  He had NO IDEA what to tell the stylist cuz he just tells Debbie what mood he’s in and she takes care of him.  THIS STYLIST, has convinced him to step out of his comfort zone….. because his hair was so long, she had options 🙂  As she’s chopping of his long locks, I’m reminded of another “Scott guy” that did this … about 30 years ago 🙂

As we were checking out, she told William she’d love to have him as a model with his looks and gorgeous hair that clearly grows fast and can style many ways.  As we were leaving she also offered to give Josh his next cut.  As they walked out, she said to me, “I think he thinks I’m kidding””.”Which one?” “Well seriously both, but your boy there. Tell him I meant what I say.  and the other boy too”  She has a foreign accent.  “I will tell them.” 🙂

And THEN, William got the new suit…

Lambrecht’s Book Info

The Lambrecht’s book comes soon and the book release party is Dec 4th:  https://closingconcepts.files.wordpress.com/2016/10/invitation-to-book-release-party1.pdf

During the toughest time in any parents’ life, the death of a child, you would expect them to lock themselves away, wondering what they did wrong/ or could have done different/ or just “why me?”  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying John and Roni haven’t run the gambit of emotions but their VERY FIRST INSTINCT over the loss of their only child was “how can we prevent this from happening to other families?” and they used some of the money raised for them, to put up signs in the Glamis area, to warn other ATV’ers, so another family doesn’t have to go through this.

After Dalton’s untimely death, they have “helped” all of US cope with the loss of their son.  That’s the kind of wonderful people they are.  If you had spent any with Dalton, you would have very quickly discovered that he was so happy with HIS life that he wanted to make sure everyone had that same opportunity.  At his memorial, there were literally lines of kids coming out of the woodwork saying JUST THAT!  Wanna know what that says, that says he has GREAT PARENTS.

Now they have written a book to pass along their advise called “Parenting At Your Best” along with two companion books.

Please take the time to let them know you will be joining the event on Sunday, December 4, 2016, from 3pm-7pm at the Grizzly Rose, Denver.

Product Confusion

That moment when you AND your son happen to be brushing your hair in the girls’ bathroom and neither of you  know “which of these bottles is the hairspray?”  He stopped trying to help me because we were gonna be late, I gave up and went back to MY bathroom!

Update on Josh 10/27/16

Unfortunately, Josh’s MRI on Monday, 10/24/16 has shown more tumor growth including near his brain stem/spine (that is if I understood how he explained it to me).  The promptly took him right back in for a scan of his spine and at this time his spine appears to be clear.  He told me they are going to put him on a cocktail of treatments here CO.  If that doesn’t show improvement quickly, he might have to go out of state unless they bring the new experimentation here to CO (which is possible?).

Please keep Josh and his family in your prayers.

Jeff and Ashley at Broncos Game 10/24/16

[pics incl]  Jeff and Ashley went to the Broncos vs. Texans Game tonight.

They were trying to explain that Brock fumble to me, when Ashley called it a “Brumble,” Jeff told her she needs to patent that phrase!

New Wheels on the Audi

[pics incl]  We put new wheels & tires on the Audi.  Jeff decided to go ahead and have the old tint removed and retint the windows.

William and Josh 10/22/16

[pics incl]  Debbie, Tony & Josh drove by to “check on the house.” [yes, this is a play on words, I don’t wanna jinx it so stay tuned for what that means]  Since we were mid-smoke cleaning we thought it best if Josh did NOT hang out at our house, so they went to the movies.

I don’t know why I didn’t just take a pic of Debbie & Tony too, Josh is talking to them off to the side 😉

Sunday, Aden & Will went to Elitch:Fright Fest [NOTE: Josh, Aden & Will all go to school together]

Cleaning Up from the Fire Smoke

[pics incl]  Jeff and William pulled out the couch and Jeff has the rooms shampooed.  The only rooms that are smokey are the ones that had the windows open.  Our bedroom!  none of the kids, they had their windows & doors shut.  The main floor.

William and I had wiped the walls, furniture & blinds a couple weeks ago, before Shelbi came up to visit.   The blinds in open windows, were covered in soot…. the blinds we wiped had no cat hair on them but varying degrees of soot.

Jeff asked: is this annual “fall” cleaning instead of spring cleaning….

… or is this gonna be annual fire cleaning?

Dinner with Christy 10/21/16

[pics incl]  Christy came up to visit Andrew, Shelbi & Sadie.  Since we have taken our house apart to clean up the smoke mess, we offered to drive down to CoSprings for dinner.  Courtney decided to “work from home from Springs” again.  [http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2016/10/14/visiting-sadie-101416/]  This time we disinfected ourselves and drove to Emily’s first.  She is allergic to animals, so we cannot go from Shelbi’s to Emily’s.  I’m breathing a bit better but I am not able to keep up with Shelbi and Christy.  Although, we did manage to get Sadie’s birth certificate, she’s official! It took us longer to find the building and park, than get the paperwork!

When Christy & Shelbi continued shopping, Sadie and I decided that she had made a mess out of her clothes… I went through the drawer and look what I found ;-P  If Shelbi is gonna run around calling me Aunt Theresa, I’m gonna milk it!  I’ve about taught her “fish-lips!”

At dinner, Courtney and Emily tried to convince Sadie that she doesn’t love William best!  [look at her little orange fox outfit; ears & tail]

Jeff picked up Ashley and William and met us down in Springs.

[NOTE UPDATE 10/24/16:  Shelbi txt’d me this photo today]

Fire by the House 10/17/16

[pics incl]  read the ending, updated 10/19/16!

we r back its out but smells like a campfire. i was home alone I took a bunch in… pulse ox was 91 then 89 dropping so had nebulizer & steroids already
 House FILLED w/ smoke… sigh

…. I will add “the story” as I feel better…

They were able to put out the fire quickly! South Metro Fire & Rescue Station 36 are our heroes!! [that’s the station here in Beverly Hills w/ us]

DATAPOINT!! make sure your cell phone can call 911 … apparently since I got this new phone, mine canNOT!!! grr, guess I need to call and figure that out now OR find out what setting I have wrong on my iPhone!  I ran to both neighbors on either side & rang doorbell 100x’s (no answer) & called Jeff meanwhile to have him call 911 for me.  A firetruck showed up moments later so someone else had called already.

Our house filled w/ smoke because we have an evaporator cooler & open windows.  The entire area around our house also filled w/ smoke, I took in a lot going to neighbors too, so I needed nebulizer & steroid shot but seem much better now I hope (cough still)

thanks for all the offers for help & places for refuge. not sure if we need that yet. I’m sure we’ll be re-washing lots of clean clothes 🙂

We all needed pie! lots of pie!

This photo is from Alexis Van Wagner

Here is a photo of the aftermath I took from the Kromka’s backyard. Glad they were able to stop it before it did anymore damage! –Alexis

DATAPOINT #2: Ashley & I drove the suburban back after Jeff dropped us off (from going to get pie), we quickly realized that it was full of smoke!  that was fun. [NOT!]

[intersting notes:

1) at lunch today Jeff and I discussed shampooing the carpets, since Shelbi is allergic to cats.  He was taking off early and said he would p/u William & Aden… THAT is why I was at home, otherwise, I’d have been w/ boys.  Jeff & William met me @ urgent care.  Good thing too cuz the steroid shot made me nauseous.

AND, 1b) I went to buy carpet shampoo after lunch, so we are all set to shampoo the smokey carpets… tomorrow, since today’s plans were abruptly interrupted!

2) Jeff & I had cleaned the kitchen this weekend and I had re-wiped down all the countertops literally minutes/seconds prior to the fire.  I SAW IT HAPPEN or at least I saw it appear over my side of the freeway berm.  I know/remember this BECAUSE I looked at my timestamps, I took pictures of Jeff’s handy work on the baseboards around the stairs at 3:57pm, then wiped down counters, then failed to call 911 at 3:59pm, RAN to the cul de sac neighbor (cuz the fire was really more in THEIR backyard at first), no answer, called Jeff while running to the OTHER neighbor Fuerst & told Jeff to call 911, no answer @ neighbor, ran inside to grab my laptop & important papers box (we keep it handy) but cats ran to basement .  I was attempting to go across street to get Abby when the fire took off again and smoke flared up and I could no longer see or breathe, at that exact moment fire trucks rolled in and blocked the road from my drive.  the wind shifted again for a moment and I could see my backyard… so I took that photo above w/ smoke… at 4:01pm

I took this at 3:57pm

THAT… is how fast our house could’ve gone up in smoke today if SOMEONE ELSE hadn’t called 911

DEAR ABBY… I LOVE YOU, I TRIED TO GET TO YOU. The firemen assured me they’d go check on and your house, THAT is the ONLY reason I left. They said their rescue truck was coming but I told them I’d go to urgent care (@ my dr office anyway) up the street.

As I was pulling out, Linda Schroth pulled up to check on me an I did talked to a few other neighbors AS I was driving out to urgent care.  I stopped for a moment to call Jeff and while I was coughing I told him I was going to urgent care & I did try to drive the loop back around to see the fire from another angle but there were too many fire trucks blocking all the ways back… and I WAS GLAD!  I had an overwhelming and heartwarming response from our Beverly Hills FAMILY.  Thanks ya’ll

This too shall pass… once everything is washed & the coughing stops! 🙂  It’s supposed to be <50% humidity for the next 7 days….

A few days later 10/19/16

I’m still wheezing & sneezing out soot but I have a nebulizer & a course of steroids to hopefully keep from getting pneumonia.  My throat hurts pretty bad but my voice is coming back now ;-P

AND… THE REST OF THE STORY:

today at the store I met the firemen who SAVED our homes.  [note: THEY, recognized me; I was grateful because I did not recognize them 🙁 ]

Jeff is the tall blonde guy and I forget the other fireman name (sorry)  NO ONE called 911, they were on their way from their “house” in Castle Rock, just the two of them, they saw the fire and diverted themselves!  they just happened to have water on the truck to get going!  [i had thought it was strange that there were only 2 at the time but now I know when they go to training or meetings or the store, it’s just 2 guys and a truck]  They said how it’s like we had angels that day; that they just happened to be passing by, water on the truck, the wind shifted to let them get into it and control it, I had seen it and not been asleep and got out of the house!  just one thing or one moment difference and we would be telling different stories right now.   They said again how it “was like we all had angels on our shoulders that day” and I told them we did, that our neighborhood has a couple looking out for us and told them about Cody & Dalton.  I happened to have DJ cards in my pocket and few of John & Roni’s book flyer that I gave them.  They were concerned I might get pneumonia and glad I got treated right away.  they hugged on me and I had to snap a picture.

as you might imagine, fireman in the lobby attract attention and it didn’t take long for us to have an audience listening in for details on our reunion.  several people collected DJ cards & book fliers from me.

Sadie’s Footprint Photos 10/14/16

[pics incl]  When we visited on 10/14/16, we helped make keepsake footprints of Sadie for her grandma’s & great-grandma’s.  I couldn’t very well post those, considering Christy & Aunt Mousie get the blog emails! 🙂  These are the “classified photos and story to be told at a later date.”  Shelbi has given them their gifts!

We decided to wait until Sadie was snoozing and a bit more cooperative!  When we switched from pink to blue paint, Shelbi couldn’t get the lid off, so she used her teeth….

While the paint was drying, Shelbi decided to make a tie-dye cake.

While Shelbi was adding lettering to the canvas, she set her drink next to the water to rinse the paintbrushes… and drank from that water!

LESSONS LEARNED TODAY:

Shelbi: Don’t eat/drink paint; Andrew: Talk to William about going to eat at Twin Peaks ;-P [it’s like Hooters] ; Courtney: Never wake the sleeping baby even if you just want to hold her; Theresa: start bringing a change of clothes when hanging out w/ Sadie!

Visiting Sadie 10/14/16

[pics incl] Courtney “worked from home” from Shelbi & Andrew on Friday

There are a lot of photos & stories but head hurts, hers a previrlew

Courtney is teaching Sadie how to use the laptop

but that didn’t last long so we sent Shelbi & Andrew out to lunch w/out the baby!  [THERE ARE MORE PHOTOS & a story here but that’s classified until a later date 😉 ]

I decided Sadie needed a “thing” and while Andrew was assembling it, I snapped a photo but it didn’t come out… so he has now learned that I WILL make him reshoot my candid ;-P

Thank you for the thing daddy

AND THEN… we had to get Emily but everyone was too hungry to pose for pictures
