Destiny

I was reading a book, “Star Trek Destiny” and I was telling Ashley about it.  It incorporates elements from all the “newer” Trek TV series and movies but it jumps around a lot from the present to the past and back.  She looked right at me with a straight face and asked if this was the one with the starship that crashed on the planet in the past… blah, blah, blah.  I just looked at her and I know I had a look on my face of extreme confusion and thought as I was trying to figure out which episode of which TV series I had missed.  I was about to ask her about it when she burst out laughing that she had read the first few pages when I wasn’t looking.  Little stinker!  I was kinda disappointed that I had NOT in fact missed an episode (or more) of one of the series… sigh.  It’s still a good book… if you’re a “trekkie” you should definitely check it out.

When the doctor says hmmm

It’s always an eerie sensation to hear your doctor say “Hmmmm…” but it’s even weirder when their hands are around your neck. In this case, Doc was examining my thyroid, or rather, lack thereof, and felt something. This is not necessarily a good thing, as I have had my thyroid removed and ablated. So as of now, my choices are: ” It could be nothing, part of my thyroid is growing back, or VERY swollen lymph nodes.” Ultrasound to be scheduled ASAP, “IF” something is found they will immediately do a biopsy … I’ll keep ya posted.

Angry birds

[pics incl] SERIOUSLY… angry birds. About 20 birds or so lined up along our fence and they were SQUAWKING at the tomato plants??? After 20 minutes, I finally shooed them away and they came back to carry on. It was very loud! I finally decided to do more investigating, thinking maybe a cat was outside… nope, stuffed rodent! 😀

Static cling

Static cling has a whole new meaning when included in a sentence with bean bags. ;-). I just shook out bean bag covers and now I am covered in “bean bag dust.”. Bean bag dust clings, so when you brush it off you create MORE static, thereby making the dust permanent… it’s now in my eyelashes!!!

Somehow, I shopped

I’m not quite sure how… but somehow, I ended up shopping for homecoming dresses with 4 teenage girls (and only one of them was mine)!!?!?  I told them that the only reason I went with them was so I could get steps on my pedometer!  I’d show you all the pictures we took but I was forbidden because the pictures were only taken for reference and none of the dresses were actually purchased.  They were either scared to death or completely amused that I speak fluent sarcasm 😉  I think maybe they thought I was serious about getting the snakeskin pattern leggings 😉

and then they found a pet store with puppies!

…and then, I needed pie!  but I still needed some more steps for my pedometer so I coaxed Jeff into walking up to the store with me to get pie.  Wasn’t sure how to walk home with pie… so Plan B was that Heather would come pick us up from the store in the car 😉  [I only need a “few” steps, not a round-trip!]  As we were walking we met just about every neighbor on the street so it took us forever to get to the store… and there were neighbors there too 😉

… we walked home 😉  Fortunately, everyone had gone inside and we made it home with pie unscathed!

Add one to the list

So, I have officially added Scott S. to my “list of people who talk more than I do.”  [Name withheld for sanity sake 😉 ]  I have to say, I was impressed and he doesn’t even know it yet.  In the past, I have put my hands up to STOP people from talking and shake their hand and congratulate them for talking more than me.  It’s a very short list.  However, this time, I didn’t even get a chance to stop him from talking 😉  Jeff was with me… he 2nd my motion, that this guy needed to be added to my list.

Give ’em a raise

I have this plan to fix the economy $1 at a time 😉 When you go out to eat, “round-up” your tip (we always make sure it’s 20%+!!!) and then leave an extra dollar. This theory doesn’t really work at places like grocery, gas or department stores because the “business” gets the money. That’s not a bad thing, but I’d like to see it filtered down to the employees… that need for instant gratification. So for the past several months, I’ve been “practicing what I preach” and leaving extra tip for the server. In my mind, if several customers all did this, then the server would actually get a raise… $1 at a time 😉

Secret Santa Letters

Today, we all sat down to write our letters to Santa and to our “secret” Santa’s (we draw names & keep it a secret… or try to anyway & try to guess before everyone opens their gifts). However, This year will be different than all the previous years. It’s a bittersweet moment that makes me wonder now just how different?

The scoop on Santa is… IF YOU BELIEVE, HE WILL COME.

I need to go find my pen!

Although, I just heard a demand for everyone to use the exact same color pen… so maybe not so much different after all. 😉

My pet spider

[pics incl] Yeah, I don’t think so.  I opened a box, found a spider (maybe half dollar+ leg-span)… screamed… closed the box 😉  Then, realized it was probably a black widow (or something trying to make me think it was one) so I decided to open the box to make sure.  Red on the underbelly.  Jeff to the rescue.  It’s now a dead spider 😉
