[pics incl] True to his word from dinner [http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2015/10/20/dinner-with-the-leungs-102015/ ], Kevin made both girls appointments to take the written drivers test and pestered all week to see if they were studying! 😉
We arranged for Shirley and me to cover their shifts while they were gone. Jeff had a meeting, so Kevin said he’d pick them up from Magic Rabbit [More about Magic Rabbit: http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2015/10/17/rabbits-at-magic-rabbit/ ] and meet Jeff in Parker. Me, being me, said “I’m taking ‘before taking drivers test pictures’ ” to which the girls begrudgingly agreed (before Kevin arrived to get them). OH MY GOSH… at 12:30pm, Kevin showed up from his work Halloween party, in a Japanese costume!!! 🙂 I cannot laugh enough!
Kevin also loves to document moments in pictures so I quickly received this txt with Ashley testing at 1:30pm:

at 2:40pm got a txt “we both passed!” They all went for lunch and then, Jeff returned them to work but let the driving lessons begin!
I’ve had all my standard thyroid blood tests done 09/28/15 and a thyroid ultrasound on 10/26/15.
The ultrasound came back “all clear” and my Tg (cancer tumor markers) are undetectable, however, my thyroid hormone levels are a bit high, so changing my dosage. I’ve actually managed to lose all the weight from being immobile after my surgeries 🙂 and that effects my dosage.

[pics incl] Usually we have moths and flies like crazy but right now it’s ladybugs! I suspect since Aragog’s colony has moved into our garage, they’ve taken care of most of the moths and flies and now the ladybugs have moved into the house to combat the spiders! I’m actually ok with this problem because I haven’t dared get too far into the garage for fear of being eaten 😉 … and I’m not usually “that afraid” of spiders!
I currently have at least four ladybugs in my room, two red, one yellow, and one so dark red, that it appears purple (but I haven’t captured a photo of it yet).
I really cannot capture all the spider threads, here are just a couple but many go from the beams to the floor!

While they are pleased with the results, they are continuing with the planned treatments because this type of cancer is very aggressive. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for him and family!

[pics incl] A minivan ran a light in front of Jeff today and he t-boned them… BARELY! Angels at work because he was able to MOSTLY STOP and NOT hit the two carseats! Everyone is fine and both vehicles are drivable!

[pics incl] William attends a STEM school (Science Technology Engineering & Math… they actually say STEAM because they include Art). Today, the county libraries are hosting STEM Wars at the fairgrounds and William’s school is one of the exhibitors. His robotics class built robots that had to be able to pick up the green balls from the “tee” and put them in the bucket. You can see his team’s design on the floor near his feet, as he explains to a youngster how to maneuver the controls. He was “pit master” of this STEM booth.
Other STEM booths had rockets for kids to build and launch. The entire event was Star Wars themed as you can see from R2D2 and other STEM student volunteers, standing near the Droid Builders booth 😉
This week has been a bit amusing as some of “you lurkers” have become known. I’ve “met” some from church groups that had me on prayer lists and a few “friends of friends” who thought to check up on me! THANKS!
I just wanted to say “Howdy!” and a shout to ‘You lurkers.’ 🙂
[NOTE UPDATE: HAHA! Well, I never finished typing this up and “publishing” it and MORE funny lurker stories have emerged! I hesitate to call anyone stalkers because I kinda did invite ya’ll 😉 This “note” is a tribute to the newbies ;-P ]

[pics incl] Our friends/neighbors, Van Houten’s gave us a LOT of tomatoes from their garden, with a comment “we want some back as salsa.” They weren’t talking to me. We only had a few jalapenos and cilantro from our “garden” so I went and purchased more organic ingredients for Jeff to use.
Jeff and William blanched, peeled and diced all the tomatoes then chopped the remaining ingredients. When I got home it looked like this:
I suggested “we” strain some tomato juice from it and let it simmer.
We tweaked it with a few more fresh ingredients and viola! Homemade guacamole too!
I called Katie to take her some salsa before it dissappeared but she wanted to come see the kitchen. William is officially taller (last time we measured them: http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2015/04/13/katie-and-william/ )
[pics incl] I met a man today whose father founded an organization in the 1940’s for “Random Acts of Kindness” He has these cards that are completely untraceable to them 🙂 IF, I understood him correctly, you can only know about them if you ask to join them! They are in all 50 states & several countries & languages.
He bought a car wash for people behind him in line.
