Dalton Lambrecht
April 25th, 1998 – December 29th, 2013

Our beautiful son was just fifteen years old when he passed, content with a lifetime of experience and a huge heart of love for others.

When Dalton jumped the dune on Sunday, December 29th, he had no idea that a huge sand rail was coming up the other side. We’re told it was instant, that he didn’t suffer at all. His dad held him while he took his last breath and went to heaven. Dalton died doing what he loved and we couldn’t have asked for a better way for him to go. He will forever Ride In Paradise…

He is survived by his proud parents, John and Roni Lambrecht, his grandparents, Jean and Charles Bradfute and Ron and Denise Wing, his aunties, uncles, cousins, and better friends than anyone could ever dream of having, and his dog, Daxton.

Please plan on joining us for a celebration of Dalton’s short life including stories from you, if you wish…

Courtney Bananapus

I don’t know why, but Courtney decided she shares 75% of her DNA with a banana. She said this, AFTER she claimed she was on octopus?? [she claims she’s an octopus… and one appears out of nowhere?!? how does she do that!?! OK… not a REAL octopus, just a “tattoo” of one on a contractor’s van))

I don’t know her… but I have renamed her “Bananapus.”

Nightwing Teaches Peanut to Fetch

[pics incl] I/We have been teaching Nightwing to play fetch. Why? … Ummm, BECAUSE! 🙂 [ http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2013/12/20/chinese-cough-syrup/ ]

Nightwing prefers blue straws, but today he decided any color was acceptable. For the most part, the other cats stand around, sniff the straws and know with certainty that “we” are all crazy.

They aren’t best friends, but at least they can tolerate being a few feet from each other… maybe.

Computer Geeks Are Us

[pics incl] I know this will be lost on most of you 😉 I didn’t entirely trust that “computer transplant” would be successful (due to laptop age & attitude! not the expertise of the “surgeon!”). But I’m now the proud “user” of a 1T SSD and 8 more GB RAM!

Some Comic Relief

“It’s not my fault if William dies… he licked my feet… twice!”

“The cat thinks you smell like you set your hair on fire.”

“Hang on, I’m cutting a frog open, it’s guts are getting everywhere!”

[Open mouth, Stick out tongue, while saying this…]
“There’s a chocolate frog on my tongue… and it tastes nasty.”

Courtney has been out of town on/off since before Christmas. She returned home today.

… Courtney DID set her hair on fire (at the vigil)! We all grouped around our fireplace to thaw out (it’s <0 outside!) After telling Courtney that William licked Heather’s feet yesterday, they all smelled hers… at the same time!

Candlelight Vigil for Dalton

[pics incl] Our neighborhood held a candlelight vigil as the Lambrecht’s pulled in tonight (home from CA). It was beautiful. Thank you Wilderman’s, we ALL needed that.

Celebration of Dalton Lambrecht’s Life

Dalton’s Memorial Celebration will be Sunday January 12th, 2014, sometime in the afternoon, the time is TBD, sometime between 2~7pm (I will send out another email when finalized)

Douglas County Event Center
500 Fairgrounds Drive
Castle Rock, CO 80104

Jaime Met Drew 01/02/14

[pics incl] While we are all still numb and incredibly sad over the death of Dalton [http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2013/12/31/memorial-fund-for-dalton-lambrecht/], it’s not everyday that your daughter gets engaged [http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2013/12/26/and-she-said-yes/], and we also promised to take Drew to meet Jaime before he leaves.

When we walked to the table, Drew wasn’t with the group, and since we didn’t call ahead, Jaime had no idea we were coming, nor why. (It was a very last minute decision and we made a spur of the minute call to a neighbor, to join us). Heather held out her hand and without skipping a beat, Jaime says to Jeff, “You hold him, and I’ll help you beat him up! 🙂 ” As we sat down, Drew walked around the table, Jaime looks up and hollered “Never mind!” We all burst into laughter (something we haven’t heard in a few days 🙁 ).

Our group was noticeably more somber than usual and Jaime commented, and was saddened to hear the news. The Lambrecht’s have been with us on several occasions. http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2010/12/21/celebrating-birthdays/

I did take some photos and there were some tears. It was a nice visit with Laurie & Abby and we spent time celebrating the life of the sweet boy we all knew.

Ultimate Grief

[pics incl] There are no words that I can find to express the sadness in my heart upon hearing of the death of our dear friends/neighbors’ boy, Dalton. Our hearts ache for you. We are sending you our prayers and love. We grieve with you and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of Dalton’s young life. We are here for you now and forever. We love you Roni & John!

[NOTE 01/01/14: So many of you have asked how Dalton died, it’s is only natural to want to know.

Dalton was struck head-on by a sandrail (large truck-like dune buggy?) while on his 4-wheeler, while vacationing with his parents, in California. His dad was with him.

If you happen to have pictures of Dalton, I know they would love you to share them.

When they return from CA, I will keep you posted on information regarding services celebrating Dalton’s life. ]

I CAN cook… Pie

Pie IS one of those things. Today is a good “head day” so I could do some bending for the stove. [ I have no idea why, but my head was really hurting this morning, I went and took a nap and VOILA…, by lunch, not hurting at all?! OK, I’ll take it… NO “extra” drugs!]

They aren’t perfect but they are PIE! 🙂 Throw in Jeff’s homemade whipped cream and who cares if I can’t cook!

A New Excuse

[pics incl] Think of that moment, when you ask kids to do something and they give you some lame reason for why they cannot do it. Today, I received a new excuse and had to pardon them from the chore.

“… but Mommmm… I can’t. There’s a robot in my way!”

It’s true. There was.

Santa brought me an iRobot Roomba for Christmas. It has become apparent that it’s gonna be a while before I can REGULARLY do things like vacuum (which is loud) or do much sweeping/mopping because it requires “tipping head down.” [go ahead try doing it]

So, yes, I got a vacuum. 🙂 IT’S COOL! The cats hate it.

We name our “things” so… Introducing, “Alfred.”
