I hope you exercised your right to VOTE! I think this election will be very interesting… I like this map in particular… wonder what it will look like in the morning?

Happy Birthday, Steve Damm.
A few years ago the brother of our dear friend Jim Damm, died of a brain tumor. Although he is not technically family, I have considered Jim to be “one of my kids” for almost 18 years! The loss of his brother, was an extended family loss, even though we had never met. Steve and his wife Tyra, approached his illness & diagnosis & subsequent fight with openness and humor; they purchased the domain thedammspot to track his daily progress and share the very personal struggle with others.
Tyra is a writer and has continued to share her life story and Steve’s memory. I pop in now and then “to check on Steve”…
Today, would have been his 44th birthday. In his honor, they are spreading 44 Random Acts of Kindness.
What a great way to honor his memory! Here is Tyra’s story: http://checkonsteve.blogspot.com/2012/11/join-party-by-doing-good-deed-sunday.html
Although yesterday was filled with telethons galore, as I flipped through the news on multiple channels, several times today to see about recovery efforts for Hurricane Sandy… I found nothing. It’s astonishing to me to know that there must still be an incredible need in that part of the country, but “the rest of the world” has moved on with day to day life. I cannot be the only person in this geographical area that would like an update!
I’m irritated that the media gets to choose what is important. For those of you in that region, our thoughts and prayers are with you, even if you don’t have electricity or internet to read this.
Happy birthday to my mom, Patsy Bacon… have fun on your trip to the boonies!
I was driving Ashley to sports training and she was messing with the air vents over and over. I finally asked her “Is the air too hot or too cold, I’ll adjust the temperature?”
“It’s fluffy.”
Please let me know if I just hit the generation/communication gap!?!?

[pics incl] Heather had about as much of blue hair as she could stand, so Debbie to the rescue!

[pics incl] Jim bought Ashley chocolate carrots 😉 (NOTE: she’s allergic to real carrots). He said he saw these and remembered when she was called “Ashley, no carrots.” When she was little, we would put her in ski school at Winter Park and Eldora. They would take masking tape and put the child’s name on their back. If they had allergies, that was another piece of tape underneath, hence: Ashley, no carrots. Jeff showed up with more:

I checked a couple of cookbooks out from the library… go ahead, I’ll wait ;-P. I’m trying to figure out how to do some of my “things” in the crock-pot because I am never here… I’m a chauffeur.
ANYWAY, I had them in the truck with me while I was waiting for kids at the school, when a friend walked up to my window. She stopped talking mid-sentence and said “ooooh, whatcha cooking? wait a minute…. are you one of those moms who always cooks something really yummy every single night???!”
I’m still laughing ;-). Apparently, you can look smart (or at least look like you know how to cook), if you carry around cookbooks!
