Jury Summons

Well, I received a jury summons… … … … <—that’s a whole conversation right there 😉


I’ve received them before but I’ve never had the pleasure of sitting a jury.  This time I couldn’t figure that it’s a good idea?!

I called my doctor for a note and the girl on the phone “sure just write something up explaining yourself and the doctor will sign it.”  under normal circumstances I could whip that write up (and hence my dilemma) … … …

Jeff was out of town… blah blah.  I gave up.  Everyone suggested “the vacation postponement”  which is all fine intill I have to do “THIS … … …” again!

Don’t get me wrong, I would LOVE to do jury duty! just once! but I don’t think it’d be fair to anyone … or myself … to try.

But I digress.  by this point, I’ve given up on figuring it out and I’m just gonna see if I get called the night before AND if so… show them pretty pictures of my brain and try to explain … … …

[NOTE UPDATE 09/19/16: Had a neuro appointment today and it came up in conversation that I got a jury summons and doc might have actually used the phrase “Yah, I don’t think so.” ;-P and wrote me a “get out of jail free card”]

Toast, It’s NOT For Dinner

[pics incl]  I’m not saying toast cannot be for dinner, I’m saying at THIS point, toast WAS NOT for dinner, YET 😉  Things overheard “We are crossing toast off her list of things.”  “We should ban her from the kitchen.” “I thought we banned her from the kitchen?”  “At least the kitchen isn’t on fire.”  “Night’s not over yet.” “When we go out for dinner, do I have to get dressed?”

Let me ask you this… Is it MY FAULT that they burnt down the oven that I knew how to make an entire loaf into toast all at one time?!  ;-P

No Furtune in My Cookie

There wasn’t a fortune in my fortune cookie.  This makes my children who speak Chinese walk away from me.. backwards…. quickly… while muttering things like pianos and struck by lightening!  and “you can’t come near me for… like… a year!”

But then William gets one that actually uses the word “alas.”  SERIOUSLY?!?

Do NOT Skip Me

[pics incl]  Velma joined my parents and us up in Granby.  Let me just say that I now officially hate the card game, Phase 10.  One hand took 2 days!! and don’t get me started on “skips!”  I finally just threatened to cry if they skipped me (or if they argued about HOW to skip people)!  Ashley prevailed.


Years ago, while playing Uno, Courtney skipped me so many times in a row that I threatened to ground her.  Then, I “had” to … ground her for life.  As the record stands, Courtney has been grounded for “her after-life.”

My Uncle Skip and I have a tradition where we take a picture of each other “taking a picture of each other.”  Velma insisted that we had to be able to see each other’s faces though. ;-P

How to Demolish a Pie

[pics incl]  This cheesecake was dropped and “someone” wrote “Mom’s fault” on it.  But clearly he forgot his mother doesn’t like cheesecake and wouldn’t have had any part in this… but not to be outdone, I passed this buck right along to the other mom in the house!


While also denying all knowledge (which was true), but not to be outdone, Grandma declared that she was encouraging this delinquency, grabbed her fork and ate cheesecake for breakfast. Let me just say that Courtney and Grandpa had already started 😉

Bread-N-Butter Jalapeños

[pics incl]  If you’ve had burgers or brats at our house over the past several years, we have probably initiated you into the “bread-n-butter jalapeño” club.  They are similar to sweet-n-spicy jalapeños but not exactly the same.  “We” cannot take credit for this glorious discovery.  Our friends, the Abramovitz’s introduced us to them by trying to make me eat them with cream cheese on Fritos.  [I judge food by the sound of it and NO WAY was I touching that stuff]!!  But being a good sport and not wanting to offend a fellow Texan, who was parting with one of two of the very last jars of what she considered GOLD, jars of this stuff, I obliged and promised to try it on brats.

Our lives changed that day ;-P

It’s only sold at select HEB in Texas.  OR… it was.  We had anyone driving up, stop and buy us some (and the Abramovitz’s)  My parents ALWAYS obliged.  Yet, when Will & I went to TX last summer, HEB stopped selling it.  OH NO!!!!  I gave Tammy one of our last jars for her birthday and we finished of the other!

My parents drove up, stopped in Pueblo, CO at Frank’s Meat Market… GUESS WHO SELLS IT?!? They bought the entire stock!


I suggested my dad go with us to present Tammy with a jar, since she initiated ALL of us (yes, that’s YOU too)!

Harry had built a spectacular, electronic, Lego bulldozer and promised to friend me on FB so I could see his links.  Yay me 🙂

Josh Pranked Heather 08/03/16

[pics incl]  Will & Josh had some pre-testing at school today so we grabbed some dinner, a video game & ice cream.  The conversation somehow turned to Heather & Drew and Josh started giving me places to tell them to go eat in Jacksonville (he used to live there), when I finally said something along the lines of “I’m not gonna remember all this, you should just tell her…” and thus, the evil plot was sprung….


We are a bad influence on Josh ;-P

Josh still has a Florida phone number on his cell, and William decided they should call her from Josh’s phone.  Alas, Josh and Heather were already buddies and had exchanged numbers sometime in the past so she wasn’t fooled by their trickery.  She did appreciate the good restaurant tips!


When I txt’d Heather the photo of Josh pranking her, she something along the lines of “it’s still daylight!”  Fun evening!

We Got Lost On Purpose

[pics incl]  We were headed camping.  When asked where, Jeff pointed “That way.”  I’m sure that wasn’t exactly what Gavin’s mom expected to hear 😉  We were headed way out to one place but on the way there Jeff went “Hey, what’s down that road we just passed?!”  Ok, just kidding.  Remember when we came back from Santa Fe via Taos? [ http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2016/07/04/veterans-memorial-taos-nm/ ]  Along the way, we marked a few places that we wanted to investigate… and THAT road, was one of them.

Jeff pointed out, this is the first trip where the boys, outnumber the girls 🙂

We found GREAT camping and saw only FOUR cars!  I took many pics but I cannot seem to get them all uploaded so I’ll start w/ a few.  While we think the pond was “alive” maybe not w/ fish 🙂 and I couldn’t see what I was doing & accidentally took a pic of my shadow… it made me laugh!  We hiked & jetboiled lunch in the rain.




Remember that crazy, HUGE, freaky, giant, spider, the other day? [ http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2016/07/28/talking-about-spiders/ ]  Well…… William is fired!  He had THIS on him and, let’s just say… “I” got it.

Talking About Spiders

[pics incl]  The other day we had GIANT wasps.  I’m not just saying that, it’s what they are called, Courtney googled it 😉  [http://blog.scottsontherocks.com/blog/2016/07/24/holy-giant-wasp-batman/ ] but we didnt know that’s what they were called when were all running and screaming!  

This topic brought up the topic of bugs in general and then… spiders.  Spiders hold a special place in our hearts. They have their OWN tag 😉 [you cannot see it unless you are viewing the desktop version, otherwise just search spiders, you get the gist]

We had people (ok, girls) commenting about spiders chasing while husband at work, or not home.  Had to stand on a chair cuz of a dime size spider was gonna eat them or call a neighbor over to get it!  I’ve heard some great ones this week!  I guess spiders just don’t usually bother me that much.  

And on that note, I came into the room as William was telling Shelbi about how Courtney had him get a giant bug so she could take a shower.  I told him our neighbors might start calling him at 3am.  The conversation went something like this “The first one is free.”  I’m glaring at him “What?!  Courtney PAID me to get the giant bug.”  

She thinks it was totally worth it, several of my friends agree.  He might just start advertising.

To bring it full circle and make sure I haven’t forgotten that He has a sense of humor, the man upstairs sent me a little gift this evening.  My heart stopped, so I couldn’t scream.  Spiders now scare …the …CRAP …out of me!!!!


AND, just in case you aren’t certain…. I decided to risk my life, turn back around to take ANOTHER photo, just to convince YOU…


She obliged me… I zoomed it in for ya.  That’s a 1″x 1″ board she’s posing on for you.  William charged me $200 and it would have been totally worth it, except everyone is way too afraid to let him open the door.  If you are one of our neighbors… RUN!!! 🙂

View Walking 07/25/16

[pics incl]  Courtney was supervising my walk today 😉 (ok, she was Poke-hunting… oh, alright, I was too)  I was telling her about the buffalo (bison) so we drove over there… and walked REALLY slow (my head’s been bothering).  No bison were out but it was a pretty view.

I’ve decided to abandon the “taking it easy on my head” cuz it’s not doing a bit of good, so I’m gonna go back to just trying to work toward steps.  I still needed a few more tonight so I dragged Jeff out to supervise.  Awesome sunset.

  
I have several folks on my blog that are homebound, so I often think of ya’ll when I snap pix.  I know they aren’t fancy, just a glimpse of something else ;-P
