[pics incl] William and I drove to DIA to pick-up Jeff. We pulled over on E-470 and we were only at the edge of whatever it was! (lots of hail & crazy wind)!
We made it to the cell lot/food by DIA but it was still NASTY. We saw on the airline website that, Jeff’s flight was diverted to Albuquerque, NM. He bought in-flight txting so he could have me call his co-worker’s wife. It’s cleared up a bit but it’s still nasty to the South & East of here! They should land 3hrs late.

[pics incl] William & I were walking from the library and we saw a small poodle nudging and licking a small hopping bird. Moments later a woman called out for her dog. As we hollered over to her that her dog found a bird, she started telling us that she had wrapped it and taken the bird inside. Two birds. She is taking them to a nearby vet… we are on foot so carrying them was not a wise idea.

Megan Golba (13yro) is missing from the area. I do NOT have any of the details but I think there has NOT been an Amber Alert issued. Her family is frantically searching for her. [NOTE: DCSO considers Megan a runaway]

[pics incl] Nightwing follows us around like a puppy. The past several days, whenever anyone leaves, he jogs outside like he is going. Drew used to take him places. I almost took him to PetSmart last week but I was alone and no leash. Today, when Heather asked him if he wanted to go, he gave his “puppy face.” So she found the collar and leash and Claudia bravely agreed to help run errands. (it’s been a while so we weren’t sure how he’d react). He posed with his collar, then leash, then “let’s go!” Well, until she started the truck! But he settled back down and they were off.

[pics incl] Ah… It’s not the kind of photos you normally have for a birthday. She came home from work FRIED (sunburnt). She had sunscreen… obviously, EXPIRED. Heather and Claudia are using aloe and then big sis had to brush her hair 😉 I have strep so Heather took Courtney, William and Claudia out to the Cheesecake Factory. You might be wondering about Jeff and Ashley. This was a kids event… and Ashley is in Texas (Jessica is getting married tomorrow!). If William remembers to take pics tonight….
Well, he forgot to take pictures AND Heather forgot her wallet… this will probably be one birthday she’ll remember as “having to buy her own ‘present’ or something!”
I just wanted to give a shout out to YOU. I’ve been trying to keep in touch with everyone and I want you to know that I do often think of you. BY NAME (or at least by how I might know you 🙂 ). I think of all the people on this list; family, friends, neighbors, kids friends, classmates, sports teammates, even those of you lurking out there that haven’t signed up 🙂 Yes, YOU. [I know some of you ended up here from FB or from talking to friends/family and adding me to your prayer lists. I know I do not have my email on here anywhere so you cannot email me directly… but feel free to sign up, just tell me how you got here or I’ll think it’s SPAM.] I appreciate all the emails and txts and thoughts and prayers. I think of ya’ll and I just wanted you to know it.

Clarissa jumped off and helped hold for William. It’s a steep “stair-step” type ledge. I snapped a view of Ashley and Clarissa with the jet skies behind. Ashley and William taught Clarissa to “skip rocks” on the lake.
When they went to go put the jet skies on the trailer, Jeff sat/stepped/crouched down the steep stair-step ledge where I had previously taken the photos (go back and look). The second he put his foot down, they heard the unmistakable sound of a rattlesnake, and he leaped backward. According to the girls, he didn’t realize how precarious his footing was on the ledge and they truly thought he would fall off! Fortunately, he was able to keep his footing and the snake continued to only warn him as he moved his calf from about 10″ away from the snake’s face. Jeff was able to warn Courtney from following him over the ledge. Ashley came up to warn us because they knew we had just been there taking photos and commented on taking more.
On the drive home, the sunset briefly made it look like the mountains were on fire. [Ignore the bugs splattered on the windshield 😉 ]
[pics incl] Ashley helped pick out the “proper” sketching pens, Heather made chicken fried steak (from scratch), Courtney bought “trick” candles and I wrapped a box of wrapped boxes! 🙂 William helped her put “the bow” in her hair… it’s tradition around here. [Jeff stayed away, he has scarlet fever!?!]
BUT FIRST, I took her out to an empty parking lot to begin driving lessons. 😉
